According to traditional Chinese belief, the lion signifies courage, stability and superiority.

The Lion’s dance is performed to chase away ghosts and evil spirits, and since the monsters, ghosts, evil spirits and giants like Nian are afraid of loud noises, the dance has become a natural complement to the fire crackers' noise. Clashing cymbals, a gong and drums usually accompany this lively scene.

For the New Year, the Lion and Dragon dance symbolizes good luck and prosperity.
During the morning of January 22nd, at 11:30 am, Woodside Square was filled with traditional Chinese Lion and Dragon dances.

We had MPP Jamel do the lion wake-up for us on the performance stage located in the food court. The lion danced for the audience. Everyone was cheerful and so excited to see the lion dance.

Our lion dance team danced around the entire mall, ate lettuce from our vendors and sent out greetings for good health and abundant fortune in the coming New Year!

The entire dance lasted over three hours. We are confident that our lions have brought good fortune and chased away evil spirits.

Wish all our vendors and guests good luck in the 2023 New Year!
